Autumn to Winter, Sun and Moon.
I thought I would start this post with an autumn poem that captures the season beautifully. It seems that we are in between two seasons right now as we are edging into cold December. The photos of the leaves were taken in the woods near my garden.
 Leaves,
"How silently they tumble down
And to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colours gleaming in the sun.

At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, they drop to the earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow."
Poem by Elsie N. Brady.
The stone faeries are keeping watch at the door and looking out over the garden which is transforming into a wintery scene, with grey skies and bare branches.
At night their dark eyes observe the wild foxes, badgers and owls that visit from the woods.
Years ago, I bought these faery faces from a reclamation center. The fae with the poppies in her hair is called Titania.
Red Berries and Heart Hares.
For the past few days I have had a bad cold which is typical for this time of year, but while I have been recovering, I was inspired by red Hawthorn berries and found some delicious ruby garnets in my bead collection. I did not intend to create new stock for the shop, but I felt that the beads had to be made into some jewellery pieces. The hare brooch, the silver moon earrings and the berry hare necklace are all available in Etsy.

Also, soon to be listed will be this original 'Heart Hares' illustration. This lovely hand carved frame needed a painting, so I illustrated these hares in love!
You can click on the image to see a closer view. The picture has a gold velvet ribbon and a silver hare charm. It is signed on the back of the wooden frame.
All of the items featured here could make a nice gift for Christmas or maybe even for Valentines Day! ;-)
P.S. This December receive a surprise free gift when you buy any jewellery items, paintings or prints from my Etsy shop!
The hare picture has now gone before it could be listed in Etsy. Thank you Sarah. ;-)

  3. There is something magical about the liminal time between fall and winter, isn't there? The colored leaves you posted are gorgeous, as are your hares, both the pin and the painting!

  5. Have you got rid of that horrid cold Jo ? I've missed you on FB! Your fae folk are perfect for you. What a beautiful poem, I'd never heard it before, or the writer, so will have to investigate further.

I absolutely adore the romantic hares - that has to be an all time favourite for me.
    Take care, and keep snug.xxx

    Shell,
I thought you would like the hare picture. It was fun to create an image for the heart frame. I hope you and the bunnies are well. ;-)

    Donna,
I know what you mean about the magic of the seasons. You can see the gentle transition between autumn and winter. We have had so much mild weather lately. Winter is slowly creeping in!

    Hi Tammie and Jules,
I'm feeling much better, thank you!
It is an odd cold because it's still hanging around and not easy to get rid of. I'm drinking plenty of herbal teas, which I know you would approve of, Tammie! ;-)
Jules, I just found the poem on the internet and it does describe the autumn leaves perfectly. Have a cosy weekend too! ;-)

    Thanks Kathryn, Della and Monica.
I'm glad you all enjoyed this post! ;-)
Renting houses is not fun, but at least you get the chance to find some unusual places to live for a short time!

    Everyone have a lovely weekend!
    Best Wishes.

  16. Good to hear from you, Joanne! And what a lovely post. I am also watching the leaves in their dying dance. This time of year is so sad to me and yet I find joy in knowing that life is still growing in the naked trees, and it will seem only a short time until they burst forth again in the glory of spring.

  17. One good thing about shedding your cold is you have it over and done with for the rest of winter (hopefully).

I love hares and have enjoyed seeing yours. If you get a chance why not take a look at the stall in the Bath Christmas Market? They have a selection of silverware which includes hare jewellery.

Bella, I used to go to the Christmas market every year in Bath, but since moving away to Wiltshire I have not visited for ages. I've not seen the hare jewellery at the market before. The silver pieces sound lovely. Maybe I will try and visit again next year and take a look!

Sarah, You are very welcome and thank you for the kind messages. I'm so glad the picture has gone to a good home! ;-)
